G erry is an odd ball, a brilliant artist and a dear friend I met many moons ago. He has been through the dark traps of despair, experienced pure joy and happiness with his now late wife, Andrea; deep personal losses and ultimately landed up alone to face the years ahead. Somehow he survived the challenges, and the experiences fueled his creativity as only an artist can fully appreciate.
How he came up with several excellent publications during these gut wrenching years, is anyones guess. I stand in awe of his determination and how he managed to get up and show up to continue his journey through life. It takes a special kind of person to do this, but here's the reality check: He is not the only one. The world can be a cruel, mysterious and scary place full of forks in the road where you have to make decisions; whether it be as a youngster or adult.
This brings me to his latest work, a beautifully written, raw and honest take on the challenges teenagers face. It is a great read, and builds op to some serious topics come the follow ups to be released later in the year, so be warned. This is a book written for teens, through the eyes of years of personal experiences which in his opinion, should be bought and read by parents struggling to navigate their teenagers through life.
“I discovered my creativity at an early age when I refused to colour inside the lines, and who said the trees needed to be green and brown, anyway?”
